I've talked about unplugging from technology once in a while but what about social media. What role does social media play in our stress levels?

Before I go on, I want to make clear what I mean when I say social media. Apps and sites like:
Facebook • Twitter • YouTube • Tumblr • Instagram • Snapchat • Flickr • Pinterest • Google+ • LinkedIn • Vimeo • Vine • Reddit • StumbleUpon • Goodreads (my fav!) • etc...
Social media definitely has its perks. We use various platforms to communicate, play games and share our interests with other people.
With social media we can be overwhelmed with comparison, trolls and negative news. Not to mention it's a huge source of procrastination.
Solution: Dedicate some time each day (or an entire day if you so choose) towards NOT using or checking any social media sites or apps. In the mean time, go enjoy the world around you. Your social media will still be there when you get back.
By taking small social media breaks each day, you get a break from the trolls and you're less likely to compare your life with someone else's based on a single picture.
Ready to relax and take a breather? Close out Facebook. Close out Snapchat and leave Twitter alone for a bit. Telling the your friends/followers isn't necessary. Don't worry if someone will like your post, retweet you or respond to your message. Immerse yourself in something else fun and productive. Try it. I dare you. 😉
